How to prepare for a sauna – and get the most out of the experience

A good sauna experience doesn't start when you step into the heat. It starts long before – the moment you allow yourself to slow down.

Here are some simple but effective tips to prepare yourself:

1. Drink water – wisely
You sweat a lot in the sauna, so make sure you are well hydrated. A glass of water or electrolytes a few hours before is ideal. Avoid alcohol and heavy foods.

2. Come clean
Rinse your body before the sauna – both out of respect for others and so that the skin can breathe and sweat more easily.

3. Create your own little ritual
Before you go in, take a moment to set an intention: What do you need right now? Calm? Clarification? Just warmth?

4. Bring the right things
A nice towel, maybe a light oil for the skin, or a small crystal in your hand. It's not about superstition – but about creating an experience that feels whole.

5. After the sauna
Take your time. Sit in silence, feel your body, drink something warm. This is where the magic comes in.

When you prepare yourself with presence, the sauna becomes more than just heat. It becomes a space for contemplation.
